Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) won a nail-biting final stage of the 2026 Giro d'Italia, on the circuit in Rome. It was the first stage win for Lidl-Trek in what has been a frustrating Grand Tour. Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) is confirmed as the overall winner.
Milan was well-positioned in the final kilometre sitting behind the lead-out of the Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step) who was unable to add to his hat-trick of stages, fading to finishing outside the top 10, but the Frenchman was confirmed as the winner of the maglia ciclamino.
The Italian powerhouse, Milan, finished ahead of Giovanni Lonardi (Team Polti VisitMalta) and Paul Penhoët (Groupama-FDJ United) - their best results of this Giro.
Lidl-Trek had to claw back a dangerous move which went away in the final 20km of the Roman circuit which included Filippo Ganna (Netcompany), Jasper Stuyven (Soudal Quick-Step) and Matteo Sobrero (Lidl-Trek). The win saves the Lidl-Trek's Giro, and signals an upturn in results in the past few days which included Giulio Ciccone's KOM jersey win at the men's Giro and Elisa Balsamo's two stage wins at the Giro d'Italia Women.
