Welcome to Rouleur 139 From the young breakthrough stars in the professional peloton, to companies who are pioneering innovation and pushing boundaries, Rouleur 139 is a look to the future.
We have an exclusive interview with Scotsman Oscar Onley following his stand-out performance at this year’s Tour de France, plus comeback queen Sarah Gigante tells us why becoming the best climber in the women’s peloton is still at the top of her agenda.
WHAT’S IN THE MAG? ARTICLE SUMMARIES
Oscar Onley: Feet on the ground
Those of us who didn’t know it already learnt Oscar Onley’s name this year when he went head-to-head with the likes of Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogačar on his way to finishing fourth at the Tour de France this summer. The Scotsman spoke to Rouleur about discovering life at the top, but why staying true to his roots is always going to be key to both his happiness and success on two wheels.
Sarah Gigante: Stop at nothing
When she finished second on the Queen stageof the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift this season, Sarah Gigante had finally reached the peak of her powers – it was a
performance she had been promising since she burst onto the scene by winning the
Australian National Championships in 2018. A few weeks later, though, everything came
tumbling down when she suffered a major crash in training. Luckily, Gigante is a bike rider who is no stranger to comebacks – hold on tight as she takes us on a ride through her rollercoaster career so far.
Canada calling
Next year, the World Championships will head to the Canadian city of Montréal for
a race which is expected to be hilly and attritional. However, as Rouleur found out
when we went to visit North America for the double-header of the GP Québec and
Montréal one-day events, the bike racing itself is only a small part of Montréal’s allure.
From local cuisine to underground dive bars and perfectly-brewed flat whites – this is a
city you will want to add to your bucket list.
