If the peloton was a pub…

If the peloton was a pub…

If cyclists were beers, which would they be?

Rouleur Classic

The lineup that everyone has been waiting for is complete, it’s an all-star cast of favourites and cult heroes. That’s right, BrewDog have confirmed which of their beers they will be bringing to the Rouleur Classic. It got us thinking, on a slightly tenuous tangent, if our guests were beers which would they be? Mmmm, is it Friday yet?

Punk IPA: Sir Bradley Wiggins

Ten years on the block and still fresh as Julian Alaphilippe after 200k, BrewDog describe their classic Punk as “bursts of caramel and tropical fruit with an all-out riot of grapefruit, pineapple and lychee, precede a spiky bitter finish.” All-out riot? Spiky finish? It’s the Bradley Wiggins of beers.

Dead Pony Club: Greg LeMond

Low on alcohol at 3.8%, but big on taste. A definite GC contender that will not peak too early. Tropical fruit, floral garlands and spicy undertones in a West Coast session pale ale that will float Greg LeMond’s boat all night long.

Lost Lager: Fabian Cancellara

Dry-hopped Pilsner, Bavarian yeast, German Saphir hops, crisp clean taste… Fabian Cancellara’s choice, for sure.

Clockwork Tangerine: Lachlan Morton

Looking for something different? Clockwork Tangerine features juicy citrus on a toasty caramel base in this IPA, one for the adventurous. Who better than Lachlan Morton to take this little belter off road?

Zombie Cake: Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig

Talk a walk on the darkside with this Praline Porter. Notes of vanilla, coffee and a subtle nuttiness, followed by a bittersweet cliffhanger finale. This one’s got Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig written all over it.

The 2019 Rouleur Classic, which runs from October 31 to November 2 in central London is Rouleur magazine brought to life – where you can enjoy a beer (or two) with the likes of Lizzie Deignan, Phil Anderson, Sean Yates, Simon Gerrans, Giulio Ciccone and many more.
