For those who weren't tuned into the first 100km of Paris-Roubaix, it would be hard to communicate the savage intensity of the weather. Driving across the course, we slowed down to a crawl on the French motorway due to lack of visibility and torrential rain.

By the time the riders hit the Arenberg Trench, arguably the hardest sector in the race, the worst of the rain had stopped. However, the impact of the harshest of the weather was carved on the riders' faces, and plastered across their bikes and kit.
