When at home in London, Trek-Segafredo’s Abi Van Twisk enjoys a bit of gallery hopping. Back in Girona she likes to pick up a pencil and take in the scenery

Abi Van Twisk Racing The Knowledge Trek-Segafredo

Cycling is quite a pressured environment, so anything that can take your mind off it, or you can lose yourself in, is good. I like to do lots of drawing. You are totally consumed but thinking about nothing at the same time. I live in Girona, so I have a few cool spots, up high with my sketchbook and a good view of mountains or rooftops.


I really enjoy pop art. But I love all sorts – it could be pre-Raphaelite or completely modern. And Vincent van Gogh. When I was younger, I remember going to the Turbine Hall in the Tate Modern when they had that sunset [Olafur Eliasson’s Weather Project] and we lay there for so long. I loved it.


I’m learning to skateboard but I‘m not very good at the moment. The aim is not to break any bones… I’m not going to risk injuring myself. It’s good for your core strength, according to my team-mate.


I was a bit star-struck in the new team at first, because they are all hitters, but they are all so down to earth, as well as being talented.
