Today, at Rouleur Live in London, Italian eyewear brand Koo launches its latest model, Hype. Designed for road cyclists, Koo says that Hype was “crafted with ample venting ports with two on either side of the frames, as well as one in the centre of the glasses above the nose bridge. This unique centre ventilation placement promises consistent airflow to prevent fogging, making them suitable for even the highest intensity rides.”

The Hype glasses feature a polycarbonate lens by Zeiss, renowned for its high-quality camera optics, while the frame is made from 45% bio-based polymer materials.

They were teased at the season’s final Monument, Il Lombardia, when Koo-sponsored team Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe wore them.

The partnership between the Koo and Red Bull, which was announced at the top of the 2024 season, saw the launch of three signature-edition cycling sunglasses, the Alibi, Spectro and Demos, in team colours. Now, to neatly tail 2024, the new Hype joins them.

There are nine colour ways available, including of course the Red Bull team edition, but Rouleur was sent this tortoiseshell version that effortlessly blends fashion with functionality – and in our opinion will look ultra stylish on the bike as well as on the beach. Tortoiseshell sunglasses were the favourites of Fausto Coppi after all, and it’s hard to think of any rider cooler than the ‘Campionissimo’ before or since. Think of the tortoiseshell Hypes as a modem, reworked homage.

“Hype signifies a new era of cycling accessories for Koo Eyewear,” says marketing director, Simona Tironi. “The design of these sunglasses is unlike anything we have done before, but the innovations of these highly ventilated, highly fashionable frames were made with the unique, dynamic athletes who sport Koo in mind.”

You can see the new Koo Hype at Rouleur Live, starting Thursday November 14, and running up to and including Saturday November 16. Koo is the sister brand of Kask, who will also be at Rouleur Live with a unique display, especially curated for the show, of the helmets that were worn to multiple Grand Tour wins with Team Sky.

A limited release of Hupe is currently available via kooworld.cc/us/en/ and the collection will become widely available for purchase in January 2025.

The Koo Hype glasses will retail at $215 and will be available through Koo’s website.
