On a fiery final day in Bulgaria, Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step) stormed to his second stage victory on the third stage of the Giro d'Italia, pipping Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) on the line of a dramatic bunch sprint to keep a strong grip on the maglia ciclamino. Dylan Groenewegen (Unibet Rose Rockets) finished third ahead of Madis Mihkels (EF Education-EasyPost), with Matteo Malucelli (XDS Astana Team) in fifth, after the bunch caught the three attackers of Manuele Tarozzi (Bardiani CSF 7 Saber), Diego Pablo (Team Polti VisitMalta) and Alessandro Tonelli (Team Polti VisitMalta) inside the final kilometre on the crowd-lined boulevards of Sofia.
