Desire: Velohawk

Desire: Velohawk

Few bike storage solutions get the blood moving quite like Velohawk’s bespoke carbon pods. We found one installed amongst esteemed company, brought a fine bike along and got to know the New Zealand-created innovation

So you’ve decided, picked out and bought your dream bike. It’s delivered, well protected and built with a precision hand. You might even have it fitted to you and expertly secured to your car for the journey home – only to lean it up against the kids’ bikes, or the pub hack, or maybe in the spare room, if you’re lucky…

Velohawk – a New Zealand-born company – saw the travesty behind this common story and sought to create a solution to not only solve, but to perfect bike storage for modern living.

Ultimate storage, Kiwi style

Velohawk claim it is the ultimate bike accessory. We think accessory is perhaps a little bit of an under-sell, especially considering the four-figure starting price of each pod – though taking the premium materials used, the fully custom process and the pod’s position as an architectural or interior embellishment, you can see how each unit could fit nicely in a penthouse apartment overlooking the river.

Details, always details

Unveiled at the 2018 Rouleur Classic and engineered in the UK, the Velohawk adds security, protection and improved aesthetics over traditional storage solutions. Your best bike truly deserves the premium treatment and the Velohawk pulls no punches.

If you need any more convincing, it comes endorsed by Jumbo-Visma’s George Bennett, who liked what he saw and was an early backer of the company. His insight and ambition, Velohawk say, was key to the successful positioning of the product.

For Rouleur Desire it felt fitting to shoot the Velohawk at prestigious car dealership H.R. Owen, renowned for dealing in cars from the epitome of motor manufacturers, including Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini. Thanks to them for letting us in with our bikes and allowing us freedom to have some fun in a truly fantastic setting.

Home from home…
