Colnago G3-X

Colnago G3-X

Few bikes command respect and turn as many heads as a Colnago, but take the name off-road and what do you get?

Hotly anticipated and thoroughly modern, the Colnago G3-X graced us with its presence for the latest issue of Rouleur. As Colnago’s first foray into the en-vogue gravel bike market, the G3-X’s design keeps it conservative with a tasty silver-on-black paint job with full Shimano GRX. The frameset looks every bit as premium as Colnago’s road-going V3RS, but with ample clearance for big rubber, bottle-bosses galore and a purposeful build. Where it got our hearts racing though, was with its weight, which barely tips the scales at all.

The G3-X is arguably too nice to be thrashed off-road, but you would be doing the bike a disservice by hanging it on the wall. We know what Signor Ernesto would want: mud and freedom – probably.

For more on Colnago you could glean some of Ernesto’s wisdom from Rouleur issue 19.8 or enjoy us testing the V3RS over the Strade Bianche.
